About the role
Life Without Barriers is seeking a dedicated and pro-active Community Support Worker to provide support to people referred to the HASP Mental Health Program to enjoy the full benefits of Citizenship and Community membership.

The HASP Program stands for Housing and Accommodation Support Partnership. It’s aim is to help people with significant and ongoing mental health concerns to live well in their community by providing safe, secure, and affordable housing with in-home and community support from mental health services

This is a contract finishing on the 30/6/21 with possibility of extension based at our Salisbury office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing psychosocial rehabilitation and support services that are flexible and responsive to peoples’ needs, including up to 24-hour support in some locations if and when required.
  • Providing clinical mental health care  and rehabilitation services which are individualised, flexible, responsive and support recovery.
  • Supporting individuals to build their skills and capacity to live independently in the community.
  • Improving  individuals’ quality of life, health, and well-being
  • Preventing or reducing hospital admissions and crisis service usage
  • Evaluating the program and using this to further supported accommodation options which will support consumers to live independently within the community.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Mental Health or Alcohol and Other Drugs.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Current Driver Licence and a roadworthy vehicle/fully insured and willing to drive for work purposes.
  • Previous experience working within mental health
  • Previous experience in working with people with alcohol and other drugs addiction
  • Demonstrated ability to positively engage, interact and work with people who have complex needs.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Recovery Framework and the underlying principles.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people from Diverse Cultural Backgrounds with specific reference to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

 

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
