At The Star, our greatest strengths are the diversity of our people. Our success as we move towards becoming ‘Australia’s leading integrated resort company’ is underpinned by our talented teams and the unique perspectives and experiences they bring, every day.
We are committed to ensuring our culture remains welcoming, inclusive, and safe.
We are proud to be one of the most diverse and inclusive workplaces in Australia and encourage all our team members to participate in our core diversity and inclusion focus areas.
The Star supports four areas of focus and Team Member Working Groups: Proud@The Star; Unity@The Star; Balance@TheStar and Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Reconciliation.
These focus areas aim to provide an overarching roadmap for the enhancement of diversity and inclusion initiatives across The Star to strengthen our culture of safety, equity and conscious inclusion.
Our diversity and inclusion program sits at the heart of The Star Entertainment Group’s culture.
The Star Entertainment Group’s LGBTQI+ team member-led advisory committee, Proud, aims to create a more inclusive culture at The Star by promoting greater visibility and awareness of those who are diverse in their sex characteristic, gender, and/or sexuality.
Proud is focussed on fostering a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for LGBTQI team members and guests, and to enable everyone to be their best and true self.
All Star team members are welcome to join Proud@The Star.
Proud@The Star are also proud sponsors of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and Queer Screen.
The Star Entertaiment Group is committed to increasing our scores on the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) by 5% year-on-year.
In 2021, The Star was recognised as one of Australia’s most inclusive employers for LBGTQI receiving SILVER AWEI status.
In 2021, The Star Entertainment Group was also the proud Platinum Sponsor for the Pride in Diversity Pride in Practice Conference.
In 2021, Proud launched The Star’s Ally Network Program which offers professional development and training to team members and leaders who are prepared to advocate on behalf of LGBTQI+ Star members and guests while proactively raising the visibility of the ALLY Network.
We aim to provide our team members with an environment that is welcoming and respectful where they feel valued and able to be their best self and to make a difference within our communities, and to the guests we serve.
