The Star Sydney is looking for a passionate, highly dedicated and experienced Head Sushi Chef to join our team at Sokyo!

This is an exciting time to join our team as we re-open and share with Sydney the makeover of our Japanese venue.

The ideal candidate should have experience in a fast-paced kitchen and production environment and furthermore, should also be comfortable with the challenges of a large-scale production kitchen. You will demonstrate passion, enthusiasm and flair in the Japanese culinary space.

Ideally, we are hoping to welcome a Head Sushi Chef with the following:

• Hold relevant tertiary qualifications, such as Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
• 5+ years experience in a similar role within a 5-star hotel operating the Sushi bar
• Experience leading a team of 50+ chefs and FOH staff
• Sound knowledge of Sushi/Japanese cooking styles
• Business acumen and ability to work in a large corporate environment, using different computer systems and the skills to partner with different stakeholders
