The Regulatory & Controls Governance Lead role is part of the Strategic Delivery Portfolio. This is a community of experts at the heart of the Australia Retail & Commercial Division who improve performance profoundly. We oversee implementation of the Division’s strategy, and lead prioritisation and performance management to ensure delivery of our strategic outcomes and improving divisional execution.

As the Regulatory & Controls Governance Lead, you will be in a senior advisory and transformation role across all of Australia Retail & Commercial Division, wherein you will ensure that the Australia Retail & Commercial Division (AR&C) Division meets its regulatory and customer obligations to  regulatory and compliance change external to ANZ as well as key Group Compliance Programs and assist the MD, AR&C in governing the Divisional Book of Work to ensure regulations are being met and the reporting to the Board and other Committees is accurate including, but not limited to, the items below:

  • Assessment of Division wide obligation adherence and impacts to the Divisions priorities;
  • Involvement in remediation / issues / initiatives detected as a result of risk assessment process and regulatory change;
  • Bringing industry leading insights to the Division in the Regulatory and Compliance space and partnering in with Risk areas and ANZx to assist in ensuring we deliver solutions that are customer centric, efficient and meet our regulatory obligations.
  • To review and advise on impacts to the executives of the Divisional Regulatory forward view, current Risk analysis and control health view and drive necessary actions arising from such;
  • To work with the leaders, Risk and Compliance and Group Risk to be a contributor to Group Compliance Programs on behalf of the Division as well as Regulatory change and Policy Driven change.
  • In partnership with controls assessment team, govern the Divisional control health relevant to changes driven by regulations and compliance that impact the Divisions “Book of Work”.
  • Be a Community of Practice Leader for the Compliance matters within AR&C and drive continuous improvement in Compliance management.

About You

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • A broad understanding of the regulatory compliance environment within the financial services industry coupled with deep understanding of Key Legislations such as Corporations Act and ASIC Act,
  • Significant experience in regulatory roles, 1st line or 2nd line functions.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills leading to being considered as the “trusted adviser”
  • Self-motivated, driven and ambitious with a can-do attitude and positive energy. Ability to navigate through uncertainty
  • Team player who is approachable, collaborative and a great listener yet ready to challenge the status quo in the quest for continuous improvement
  • Strive to stretch and grow yourself and others by identifying your own development areas, seeking feedback and providing feedback to others to help them learn and grow everyday
