Your business

The Cost Centre of Excellence (‘Cost CoE’) is part of the Financial Performance Management team (‘FPM’) within Enterprise Finance and is responsible for supporting the Group CFO, the Deputy & Divisional CFOs and the business make optimal resource allocation decisions in relation to cost.  To do this, the Cost CoE undertakes a range of performance management activities including planning, forecasting, reporting and analysis, which provide actionable insight and advice to its stakeholders.  The Cost CoE establishes governance and performs financial control activities within the cost domain to ensure the integrity of the cost result. 

Within FPM, the Cost CoE provides enterprise capability and divisional expertise to drive strategic outcomes and leverages its scale to drive continual process improvement within the cost domain.

Your team’s role

The Group Cost team sits within the Cost CoE and is responsible for supporting the Group CFO and Deputy CFO and other key stakeholders by providing insights and analytics on the bank’s cost base.  The Group Cost team looks across the divisional views of cost for investment and operating costs to contribute to delivery of the broader strategic cost agenda.

Your reporting lines and stakeholders

You will report to the Group Cost Expert.

To succeed in your role, you will need to develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across FPM, other Finance teams (e.g. the Finance Systems, Data & Innovation team (‘FSDI’); Financial Control) and business stakeholders where relevant.  You will also need to collaborate closely with dedicated change teams that sit within the FPM function to deliver change initiatives impacting your business area.  

Your Role

As the Cost Specialist (Group) you will work as part of a team of cost experts with responsibility for all cost related activities at a Group level, providing accurate and timely financial information, insightful analytics to drive business value and ensuring that management and statutory reporting obligations for cost are adequately met.

You will analyse the consolidated cost base of the ANZ business and have key financial control, planning and forecasting and external reporting responsibilities. You will also play a key role in working with divisional cost teams to ensure that there is shared clarity across the cost COE.

Your key priorities and responsibilities include:

  • Planning & Forecasting: Coordinating the Current Year Outlook, Annual Operating Plan and 3 Year Strategic Plan across the ANZ Group.
  • External Reporting: Key input into cost aspects of Half Year / Full Year Results Announcement, Annual Report, Investor Relations Presentation
  • Creating Shared Clarity: Working closely with divisional teams to ensure that Group Cost requirements (both ongoing and adhoc) are achieved
  • Financial Control: Accounting responsibilities for key accounting lines impacting the Enterprise. 

About You

To grow and be successful in this role, ideally you will bring the following skills and capabilities:

  • Proven professional experience (7-9 years+ experience) in Finance roles and ability to partner with diverse stakeholders
  • Familiarity with Finance systems and tools including general ledger and financial consolidation and reporting applications. In particular, experience with Hyperion Financial Management and PeopleSoft General Ledger would be beneficial
  • Ability to self-manage and self-learn in a fast paced working environment
  • An approach to work that is well-planned, investigative, methodical and solution orientated
  • Persistence and resilience, being able to manage demands from multiple stakeholder simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to influence at all levels, and ability to build and maintain relationships based on trust
  • Ability to connect details to the big picture and communicate effectively
  • CA/CPA qualified
