About the Job
Led by Swinburne University of Technology, working in partnership with CSIRO and Germany’s ARENA 2036, the Victorian Hydrogen Hub (VH2) will bring together researchers, industry partners and business to create the Victorian and Australian Hydrogen economy of tomorrow. Testing, trialling and demonstrating new and emerging hydrogen technologies, the Victorian Hydrogen Hub will support sustainable manufacturing practices and the ability to store clean energy from renewable sources, striving to create a sustainable future for all. It will also work with existing businesses across a number of sectors to “get them ready” to participate in the Hydrogen economy.

The Factory of the Future has established a significant track record in working with manufacturing SMEs and companies from other sectors to get them ready for business model innovation through digitalization. We are now seeking to expand our engagement to the hydrogen economy.

The Hydrogen Technology Consultant will join the wider Factory of the Future team and form part of the core multidisciplinary team at VH2. We are seeking people who wish to work at the interface between technology and industry and have the aptitude to translate research and new technology into business outcomes.

There will never be a typical day in this position. A few of your day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Identifying businesses that have an interest in developing a footprint in the hydrogen economy or supplying into the economy.
• Working closely with the Hydrogen Innovation Consultant to develop and deliver engagements that get Victorian businesses ready to engage.
• Working in the multidisciplinary teams of the Hub and Factory of the Future to shape, give purpose to, and implement the Hydrogen readiness programme
• Conducting market analyses to understand the opportunities in the hydrogen market both in Australian and overseas (particularly Germany)
• Analysing industry composition and capabilities in both urban centres and the regions whilst leveraging these capabilities into the development of Hydrogen technology supply chains
• Understanding the planning and regulatory environment in the regions
• Developing a deep understanding of the energy transition process in Germany, and mapping out how Australian technology can add value to and support this transition
• Contributing to thought leadership at the intersection of research, technology and business.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:
• A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering/Energy Systems, Automation or Mechanical Engineering
• Extensive project management or sales experience, preferably in hydrogen technologies
• A track record of working in technology led business transformation roles and a strong understanding of the opportunities and threats that may arise from the collision of industry and technology
• The ability to show leadership by building strong trusted working relationships and gaining insights as a result of communication and collaboration.
