About the opportunity

Located across Sydney South East,  Uniting has a fantastic opportunity for a compassionate, enthusiastic and experienced Relieving Home Support Officer to assist and support our team across the Uniting Sydney South East region, on a full time basis.

Your responsibilities will be varied and will require you to draw upon experience to support a diverse range of staff from multidisciplinary backgrounds, utilising Uniting systems. 

We are looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills who can contribute to harmonious teams and advocate on behalf of our clients and families in alignment with the Uniting core values; compassion, bold, respect and imaginative. This is a pivotal role best suited to a talented, dynamic, enthusiastic individual, working for a leading Not for Profit organisation to gain invaluable experience and career development.

Uniting Sydney South East consists of 15 residential aged care homes and you would be required to be able to travel between these homes.  Having your own transport would be very advantageous, but not essential.

This role is central to the delivery of our person-centred approach, and is the face of Uniting that goes beyond the Home Support Officer role, to welcome and support clients and their families during the moving in process. You will actively seek out opportunities to engage and build connections across the household and the broader community.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • daily roster and replacement, daily system entries
  • staff access to Uniting systems
  • liaise with various internal and external stakeholders, resident families, etc. via phone/email/text/face-to-face
  • organise meetings and education schedules, as well as minute taking
  • process invoices / ordering of supplies and consumables
  • documents management and filing in the SharePoint system
  • resident admissions and discharges / assist residents by performing various tasks such as , preparing rooms, transport reservations and arranging for service bookings.
  • Engage and build community connections, prompting the services of Uniting
  • Facilitate quality, timely and effective communication maintaining privacy and confidentiality of each client
  • Promote the rights and privacy of our clients, in accordance with relevant policy and legislation

 Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Business Administration is desirable but not essential, customer service or equivalent qualification/experience
  • Flu Vaccination / COVID Vaccination

Skills & experience

  • The candidate must be computer literate as this role requires working on different platforms i.e. RosterOn/Optima, Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, iCare, CRM, Worksmart Dynamics, etc.
  • Rostering experience is desirable
  • Great communication and customer service skills and an ability to problem solve, negotiate, mediate and resolve conflict
  • High attention to detail and multitasking
  • Great organisation and time management skills
