Senior Change & Release Manager

This is a pivotal role in facilitating operational changes and transitioning new or changed services into the production environment in a quality-controlled manner.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the impact of new or changed IT services and projects are handled in an effective way to ensure the delivery of desired business outcomes across our complex University IT environment.

You will lead and manage change and release BAU activities, and work with ITS teams to ensure that the change and release processes are rigorous, efficient and effective.

To do this you will uplift the current Change Process and create and develop a Change Management Dashboard. You will develop and provide all necessary training in conjunction with Configuration Management. You will work with the Business and ITS support teams and implement Release Management.

 

What does the role look like?

  • Act as owner of the Change & Release Management Business Rules and Processes.
  • Lead, develop, implement and maintain standards and procedures of Change & Release Management.
  • Convene the Change Advisory Boards (CABs), authorise changes and ensure all outcomes are actioned, monitored and reported.
  • Ensure that the integrity of all IT system environments is maintained by ensuring release and change processes are followed by projects, development and support teams throughout the release cycle.
  • Produce quality criteria that a release or change must satisfy prior to being released into production; includes testing, risk management and security requirements.
  • Manage transitions between development, test and production environments, working closely with Service Desk and Operational Managers to ensure sufficient support, training and documentation is handed over.
  • Ensure that non-functional requirements are taken into consideration for delivery, monitoring, backup, restore and service continuity (DR).
  • Ensure that requirements for configuration management is included into the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
  • Build strong relationships! We are a highly collaborative and supportive organisation. ms.
  • Promote awareness of the benefits and responsibilities of the Change & Release processes to both staff and university stakeholders.

 

 We want to talk to you if you have:

  • Expert knowledge of ITIL Change & Release Management
  • Demonstrable experience in the development, implementation and management of ITIL Change and Release Management processes in a large complex technology environment.
  • ITIL v3 certification.
  • Proven track record in building successful relationships with stakeholders across all levels, and across business and technology areas, including project stakeholders.
  • Experienced leadership and management of multi-functional technology specialists.
  • Well-developed negotiation skills and the ability to influence outcomes.
  • Sound facilitation skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to present to professional peers and work closely with Senior and Executive Management groups across the University.
  • Process orientation and a commitment to continual improvement.
