About the opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for an Exercise Physiologist Coordinator to join our Allied Health team on a full time permanent basis. This role is based in our Seniors Gym located in Chatswood.

Reporting directly to the Senior Exercise Physiologist, you will be responsible for Exercise Physiology services, supervision of Students and day-to day operations of the gym. The position is responsible for designing, delivering and evaluating therapy programs, care plans and facilitating individual and group exercise for people with acute, sub-acute or chronic medical conditions, injuries or disabilities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leads and manages exercise Physiology students in delivering health and fitness programs to maximise health, fitness and social outcomes for clients across community and gym environments
  • Screen, assess and evaluate a client’s health to ensure safety and appropriateness of exercise and physical activity interventions, which includes conducting tests of physiological measures
  • Evaluate a person’s health and create individualised exercise prescription
  • Provide health education, advice and support to enhance health and well-being
  • Provide exercise intervention, education and advice for those at risk of developing a chronic condition or injury and patients in the acute/sub-acute stage of injury, surgical intervention, or during recovery to restore functional capacity and well-being
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist with other tasks and/or projects as required

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Exercise Science specialising in Exercise Physiology
  • Accreditation with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA)
  • A current Australian Driver’s Licence and access to your own vehicle
  • Hold a valid First Aid and CPR certificates

Skills & experience

  • Experience working in an aged care environment
  • Great communication and customer service skills and the ability to get along easily with others
  • A gift for working collaboratively with a team and confident flying solo
  • Experience with Gym supervision
  • Ability to organise and conduct health screening and functional assessments
  • Computer Skills – Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of gym equipment
