About You

Reporting to the Deputy Pro Vice Chancellor, Research and Innovation (R&I), you will be responsible for leading and managing the College of Design and Social Context research operations team to assist the College in fulfilling its Research and Innovation goals. You will work closely with the Associate Deans R&I across the College’s Schools and the associated research centres and research groups to prioritise research operational requirements in line with annual planning. This also includes managing the compilation of content for annual reports and acting as a primary contact point on behalf of Associate Deans R&I and Centre Directors to deal with issues around pre award and post award operational issues.

Additionally, you will build effective and collaborative relationships with key internal stakeholders such as Associate Deans R&I, Research Centre directors, Research Group leaders, Managers/Senior Managers Planning and Resources, the College Director Planning and Resources and the College Research and Innovation Business Partner.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have, but not limited to:

  • Extensive experience in research administration, preferably in the humanities, social sciences and creative disciplines.
  • Experience in managing a team and the ability to lead, direct and influence others to achieve strategic priorities and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with stakeholders to achieve a collaborative and cooperative team environment.
  • Experience in coordinating the delivery of operational support services, for example, facilities, HR admin, events, procurement. 
  • Highly developed organisational and planning skills, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the underlying value and associated impact of research across the humanities, social sciences and creative disciplines.
  • Formal qualifications and/or relevant work experience in financial management, desirable.
  • Formal qualifications and/or relevant work experience in content development, desirable.
