About The Role

The M&T Accounting Control Specialist supports the M&T Accounting Control Manager in the development of overarching key controls around the Markets and Treasury product booking models to ensure the integrity of financial data.
This role will participate as a squad member on many of the Markets & Treasury initiatives that impact key financial control processes, technical and accounting policies and external reporting outputs, and using that interaction to build their own product knowledge. They will also support team members in other facets of the function including hedge accounting, which is performed exclusively on behalf of the Group within the function.
This role focusses on supporting the financial integrity of the Markets & Treasury businesses.
Markets business delivers innovative product solutions across foreign exchange, capital markets, fixed income, commodities, equities, as well as specialist research and risk management expertise. With revenue in excess of $1.8bn, ~$400bn RWA, 1,200 professionals working in dealing rooms located in the major financial hubs of London, New York, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore, Wellington, Auckland, Sydney and Melbourne, as well as Beijing, Taipei, Jakarta, Manila, Hanoi and Seoul, with access to a global network of 33 countries.
Group Treasury is responsible for the control and management of the Groups balance sheet and the associated risks including balance sheet interest rate risk, liquidity, funding, capital and related regulatory issues, like markets it manages the funding and capital across our network of 33 countries. With a large funding program that provides the bank with the liquidity it needs to support our customers.

About You
You will have a working understanding of the Markets & Treasury operating environment and have some experience in Financial Reporting and Accounting Policy interpretation; having some, understanding in regulatory reporting requirements would be advantageous. You will have a desire to develop experience in accounting for complex accounting instruments and products. You should be comfortable communicating across all levels of management and able to deliver concise but compelling analysis of commercial impacts of changes to policy. You are someone who enjoys learning and influencing others to do the same.

You will hold a Bachelors degree in Business/Accounting/ Management/Commerce or Financial Markets Qualification.
