About the Role
This role is a permanent part time position (4 days per week). This role is based in Coffs Harbour.
This role is responsible for the provision of early intervention and prevention advice and support, casework and case-management of families, children and young people who are at risk of entering or escalating in the child protection system.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Provide early intervention and prevention advice and support, casework and case management services to families with complex needs in the Family Support Program
- Provide planning support and structure for the safety of children and young people and take immediate action inline with Uniting policy and procedure where the safety of children and young person at immediate risk
- Support parents/carers to develop their skills by modelling and teaching strategies utilizing home visiting or facilitating parenting groups/playgroups as well as ante-natal groups
- Assess families strength and needs using Unitings Early Intervention Assessment Tool to formulate goals that are child focused and address the safety and well being of the child
- Advocate and effectively on behalf of service users and linking them to ongoing support
About you
- Relevant tertiary level qualifications including social sciences, welfare or other area that is related to the role
- Minimum of 2 years experience working with children and families using a strengths-based approach.
- Demonstrated understanding of the principals of early intervention.
- Demonstrated understanding of childrens developmental stages and practical parenting strategies.
- Experience of working with diversity including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse families.
- Proven communication skills and the ability to identify needs, strengths and potential risks.
- Current drivers licence and willingness to use own or private vehicle (with comprehensive insurance) for work related travel if required, and willingness to transport families and children.
