About The Role

As a Finance Regulatory Reporting Governance Associate, you will support the design, development, and implementation of ANZ’s regulatory reporting and control framework for ANZ’s global finance area. It includes identifying, monitoring, and mitigating risks associated with the regulatory reporting process via an effective quality assurance and governance program. You will work closely with the Regulatory Reporting Governance Manager and wider Financial and Regulatory Governance team, partner with multiple stakeholders and the Finance Regulatory Reporting Centre of Excellence to deliver assurance over compliance with regulatory reporting frameworks are effectively and efficiently managed with no surprises outcomes. On ad hoc basis, you will have an exposure to wider Divisional Financial Governance programme with opportunity to make your impact on the team and amplify your assurance skills across different businesses within ANZ.

The role is part of the Financial Control (FC) and the Finance Governance community of practices, with principal accountabilities being:

  • Assessing the effectiveness of internal controls to meet regulatory reporting requirements, including your assistance in IT and reporting controls testing: risk identification, walkthroughs, control effectiveness testing and documentation of workpapers.
  • Understanding how data governance and technology is critical to the integrity of regulatory reporting
  • Assisting in monitoring Finance’s compliance and implementation of Operating Model and Control Framework for regulatory reporting
  • Be curious, engaged, and passionate about simplification, ensuring consistency with objectives and a focus on continuous improvement
  • Taking part in special projects (may involve occasional travel)
  • Some travel (where possible) may be required for country finance regulatory reporting assignments or special reviews
  • Embedding a robust governance culture

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • A Bachelors’ university degree or have demonstrated experience in controls governance and assurance.
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) / Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) or studying to – an advantage.
  • Preferably experience in audit and assurance with a good understanding of financial reporting and accounting standards, knowledge of APRA regulatory reporting regime an advantage
  • Sound working knowledge of governance within a financial services environment
  • Problem solving with strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to grasp large volumes of information fast and present it effectively
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, inquisitive, confident, engaged, creative and enjoy working with teams 
  • Experience in drafting and presenting issues and resolutions to management
  • Experience to deal with wide range of different stakeholders with ability to influence others
