Senior Cloud Engineer 

About the role: 

As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for building and supporting capabilities to automatically apply guardrails at scale, tools and offer actional insights into focus area of Cloud resources, reducing troubleshooting, security risks and enabling speed to market.  You?will work closely with?teams?across the business and other Engineering Teams?each?day?to determine business requirements and?turn them into deliverables.? 

What you’ll be doing 

The Coles Cloud Engineering function exists to execute on the Cloud Strategy and manage the ongoing financial, operational and security aspects that arise as a result. From a strategic outcome’s perspective, the Cloud Engineering Team aims to maximise the benefit of cloud migrations, support the SaaS adoptions for speed to market and deliver PaaS and IaaS solutions in line with our risk profile. 

The Cloud Engineering Team provides the entry point for Coles Line-of-Business Teams for consumption of Cloud services.  The Team aims to enable high degrees of self-service, secure by default provisioning, achieve service level agreements (SLAs), standardise operating practices, automate policy enforcement and continuous risk monitoring reporting.  

Working in the Cloud Engineering Team, you will work collaboratively with Cloud & Security Engineers and Business Analysts, with your primary responsibility focussed on Cloud Hardening & Reporting. You will have a passion for developing and building?Cloud Native Solutions. As a Cloud Engineer, you will require proficiency?in technology,?security,?and?hands-on coding skills.? 

Some key day to day activities will include: 

• Be responsible for building and supporting cloud products using CI\CD Automation 

• Monitor and report on current state and changes to state of cloud controls throughout the cloud fleet 

• Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code and configuration-as-code solutions for related activities 

• Develop and implement reports providing insights on the state of Cloud  

• Consider and apply security engineering principles across the whole-of-cloud environment including SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, XaaS 

• Consult and advise infrastructure and engineering teams on current and target state from a cloud perspective 

• Contribute to the overall awareness and capability of the cloud team and product offerings built by the team 

Good things you’ll need 

• Experience in building, deploying, and supporting Azure based environments. 

• Strong and Proven?experience?with?Scripting Languages such as?PowerShell, Python etc 

• Demonstrable knowledge in fully automated Infra-As-Code deployments using Terraform and CICD Tooling such as Azure DevOps 

• Experience with Enterprise networking and cloud native network devices and functions 

• Experience with implementing cloud controls including deploying Azure Policy, Azure Active Directory and Privileged Identity Management preferably using automation.   

• Understanding of DevOps/Agile as the core philosophy for software development/delivery 

• Logging and monitoring using tools such as DataDog or Splunk. 

• Experience with Window or Linux at Scale.  

• Have exceptional communication skills that can be used to effectively work with key stakeholders
