About the role:

 

This role will be for a Junior Software Engineer looking for a new career opportunity and challenge within a large business environment.

 

You will part of an experience development team, offering your personal expertise on developing exciting and cutting-edge applications across our Coles Merchandise Platform Technology team. As part of an ever-growing business, we are advancing our customer’s service experience through exciting new technology and project solutions. Thereby, ensuring an evolving and satisfying retail experience for our customers.

 

What you’ll be doing

 

As part of the Merchandise Technology Team, you will be part of various modern and revolutionising digital transformation projects, developing exciting and cutting-edge applications and platforms. In applying your programming expertise, you will design scalable code across a multitude of platforms, applications, and services while gaining valuable experience and skills thought our collaborative development team.

 

As the Junior Software Engineer, you will be generating exciting new designs for current and future applications through supporting and assisting the Merchandise Development Team.

 

You’ll also:

  • Produce technical designs for new and existing applications, and develop system code that implements the design, meeting requirements and relevant standards
  • Contribute to the overall design and architecture of a broad array of solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Overall understanding in designing and implementing both transactional and analytics applications.

 

Good things you’ll need

 

To enable new trends and designs you will offer programming solutions to modernise our Merchandise Technology platform and services. We are seeking a Junior Software Engineer with experience across Jave or .NET / .NET core frameworks.

 

You’ll also need

  • Experience working in an analyst programmer / software engineer capacity and contributing to all aspects of application technical stacks including database.
  • Proficient working across Java and or Net Core frameworks including SQL.
  • Knowledge of building solutions in JavaScript high regarded but not essential.
  • Knowledge with engineering practices including: Packaging, provisioning, source code & configuration management, logging, and monitoring.
  • Understanding in automation: build, test, and deploy.
  • Ability to understand and learn unfamiliar technologies and frameworks
  • Exposure to standards and techniques regarding scalability, performance, and security
