The Merchandise Strategy and Transformation team forms part of our Centre of Excellence and plays a critical role in providing Subject Matter Expertise and support to our Business Unit teams across the Coles Merchandise business.

 

About the role

The Product Data Technical Analyst reports into the Data Governance Manager and will be responsible for the delivery of data management and governance capabilities as part of the Merchandise Product Data team.

 

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Product Data Management & Governance framework via a continuous improvement cycle.
  • Supporting the identification of Product Data Management & Governance initiatives based on Business Unit data needs, and in-flight programs of work.
  • Supporting the identification and ingestion of data extracts for data in scope for data remediation.
  • Developing the data profiling scripts based on the endorsed Product Attribute Business Data Requirements and Data Quality KPIs
  • Developing the data quality issue lists based on the endorsed Remediation Plans.
  • Developing and maintaining the Data Quality Management dashboard to track open data quality issues, progress of remediation work and monitoring of overall health of Product data.
  • Working with the Business Unit Product Data Business Analyst to refine data profiling scripts, investigate data quality issues and improve the Data Quality Management dashboard.

 

Good things you’ll need

  • A tertiary qualification in Information Technology, data management or analytics field is highly regarded.
  • Strong technical development skills in SQL, data visualisation (Microsoft Power BI preferred), with proficiency in Excel and SQL essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in data management and governance initiatives.
  • Experience with Retail product data is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with data ingestion, data profiling, data reporting, data modelling.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting data issues.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Positive and curious mindset, with desire to broaden understanding
  • The ability to work autonomously and independently is a must.
