About the role

We currently have an opportunity for an Assistant Category Manager for the Home Essentials category, within the General Needs team. You will be responsible for leading trade planning, ranging of new and exciting product categories whilst also managing a variety of Projects.


This is a 12 Month fixed term opportunity.

 

What you'll be doing

You will assist in growing profitable category sales, maintaining strong supplier relationships and supporting the customer-centric category strategy.

 

You'll also:

  • Have end to end accountability, managing forecasting and range reviews.
  • Manage the collection, input and maintenance of all category data, including promotional systems, data systems and new lines.
  • Deliver against the overall category strategy.
  • Execute the category’s pricing, promotion, range selection and layout development.
  • Develop strong supplier relationships to effectively partner and execute goals.

 

Good things you'll need

  • Previous experience as an Assistant Category Manager within retail, or FMCG industry.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience applying this to interpret industry dynamics and competitive retail landscape.
  • Skills within procurement/sourcing of products.
  • Project Management skills and experience.
  • Knowledge of the merchandising function and processes.
  • Strong analytical skills demonstrated through proactively sourcing customer insights and data to formulate category recommendations.
  • The ability to build and articulate category strategy.
  • Experience working within cross functional teams to manage and execute projects.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with both internal and external stakeholders.
