We are currently looking for a part time Disability Support Worker(DDSO1/1Q) for the house team, situated in Doncaster East. This Fixed term role is until End of January 2023. In this role you will be responsible for providing a tailored service for people with disabilities, across their life cycle and in all domains of life, to enable access to a life of dignity, respect and social inclusion in the least restrictive environment.

As the successful applicant in this role you will work to facilitate the delivery of quality services and achieve positive outcomes with and for the clients within the house. This role involves working with clients with Behaviours of concern. We are looking for someone who is open to arrange of experiences and is willing to implement behaviour management strategies.

About the role 

We are looking for a Disability Support Worker for a Part time Max-term position opportunity in Doncaster East. You will be responsible for providing support with activities of daily living and developing, implementing and monitoring Individual Plans’.

You will also work to facilitate the delivery of quality services and achieve positive outcomes with clients.  This role involves working with clients with various medical needs and behaviours.

Key Responsibilities Include: 

  • Provide quality direct support to service users in line with their support needs, the program they are accessing, and all support plans including the service users Individual Plan
  • Increase the service users’ skills through independence, personal growth and development through the provision of active support and their enhanced participation as a valued member of their community
  • Implement development programs and identify and support learning opportunities for service users
  • Assist in the delivery of programs that facilitate service users’ development of social networks and inclusion in community activities
  • Actively provide residents with routine and support as required.

Skills & Experience

  • Certificate IV in Disability or equivalent Disability related qualification
  • A current Senior First Aid (level 2) Certificate
  • A current unrestricted Driver Licence
  • A commitment to supporting and promoting the individual needs, skills, abilities and personal goals of people with disabilities
  • The ability to develop a positive relationship with service users and to support their Individual Personal Plan

In order to be compliant successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including a National Criminal History Record Check and an International Criminal History Record Check; if you have resided for 12 months or more outside of Australia in the last 10 years.  and a current Victorian Driver's Licence is essential.

To be considered for and appointed to a position at Life Without Barriers, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or hold a valid medical exemption certificate.  You will be required to provide evidence of your vaccination status during the recruitment process.

  • This roster is a mix of morning & afternoon shifts including 2 weekends per month
  • Roster splits are 37:30 / 46:00- Rosters are structured and you will be required to work to them accordingly.
