About the Role
As the Senior Lecturer in Architecture and Urban Design, you will be a key member of the Department of Architectural and Industrial Design as an acknowledged, reputable leader. Utilising your experience as a practising Urban Designer and/or Architect, you will bring your industry connections and an understanding of industry needs that will contribute to the School’s objectives as a leading institution for design education and research. This position will contribute to achieving our
Horizon 2025 strategy moon shots and Swinburne’s leadership in design and architecture education and research.
The Senior Lecturer will help elevate the School’s recognition as a leading institution for design education and research, whilst seeking to engage more in the space of Indigenous Architecture/Urban Design. In this role, you will make a strong contribution to curriculum development, teaching and research within Swinburne’s Bachelor of Design (Architecture), Master of Architecture, Master of Architecture and Urban Design and Master of Urban Design courses.
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
- Experience developing and managing curriculum and delivering high-quality teaching in Architecture and Urban Design with excellent postgraduate outcomes.
- Professional practice as an architect and/or urban designer (minimum of three years’ experience), strong professional networks and evidence of expertise in design.
- Emerging track record in attracting external research income through competitive grants and/or industry collaboration.
- Significant track record of research in urban design or other related areas, as evidenced by publications and non-traditional research outcomes.
- Background of research, research supervision and teaching at the tertiary level in the broad field of architecture and urban design.
Qualifications
An earned doctoral qualification in Urban Design, Architecture or associated field or professional practice equivalent. Preferably, a membership of an appropriate professional body.
