About the role

The purpose of the Mentoring and Personalised Support Services (MAPPS) is to engage and support children and their families in southern Tasmania, across areas of child safety, mental health and education, and developing individually tailored goals and action plans aimed at addressing identified needs. 

The Team Leader provides coordination and leadership for the provision of services to clients within the MAPSS program. The position is focused upon ensuring that staff are supported and supervised to safely achieve client outcomes within the expectations of the agency and the referring body.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily operations of the MAPSS program.
  • Provide supervision and support to direct reports
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and referring agencies
  • Inform, coordinate, and undertake tasks to ensure a sustainable and high-quality pool of MAPSS mentors and support workers.
  • Coordinate and monitor the provision of high-quality support plans for clients within the programs.
  • Monitor and review individual plans and agreements to ensure good quality outcomes for clients and referring agencies.
  • Develop and coordinate team rosters, timesheets and leave approvals for direct reports.
  • Ensure Mentoring and Support Services are delivered in accordance with the agreed budget.
  • Negotiate terms of service including quotes for individual jobs.
  • Provide reports and updates on expenditure against agreed budgets.
  • Identify opportunities for growth and develop the program in line with organisational growth priorities.

Skills & Experience

  • Certificate IV Community Services or similar
  • Demonstrated experience of working in a supervisory role in a human services organisation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the values of dignity, respect, inclusion empowerment, confidentiality, and strength-based practice.
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining & providing service user and staff confidentiality
  • Strong coordination, leadership, and peer support skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and use initiative, to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong written and computer skills for the creation of plans, programs, reports, correspondence and other documents.
  • Established problem solving and conflict management skills.
  • High level communication, influencing, liaison and negotiation skills
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate
  • Current unrestricted drivers’ licence

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and hold Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration.
