About the role

Joining our Family Based Care team in Nowra, as a Family Contact Worker you will be responsible for facilitating and monitoring safe and meaningful contacts between children, young people, and their families. From time to time, you may also be required to provide youth work, transportation or mentoring to children.

Successful candidates will have flexibility to work on a casual basis across a 7 day shift pattern. Shifts are 2-3 hours in length, and times include morning, afternoon/evening and weekends. So that availability's can be managed, rosters provided on a fortnightly basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and facilitate Family time between the child or young person and the family members
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the child or young person and those participating in the visit
  • Preparation of reports from each family contact
  • Establish rapport and provided support to children and young people
  • Provide transportation to all areas as needed
  • Access rostering and shift information through email

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in relative field or similar, or relevant experience and skills to undertake the position with the desire to complete relevant qualifications.
  • Unrestricted and Current Drivers Licence
  • Your own fully insured vehicle, child lock system and back seat capacity
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate 
  • Confident in using a variety computer systems and outlook
  • Previous experience working with children and young people.
  • Passion & commitment to improving the quality of life, skills and independence of children and young people

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
