About the Role

We are looking for caring and responsible Support Workers who reflect the Life Without Barriers values and are passionate about helping others. As a Support Worker, you will actively supporting the individual needs of elderly Australians who access our Community Care services in Bundaberg and surrounding local areas. You will help our clients to continue living independently in their own homes through the provision of domestic assistance, social support and personal care.

This is a Casual position with the opportunity to go Permanent Part Time after three months of employment (20 hours minimum a fortnight, with more hours on offer for the right candidate). Flexible hours available that can be between school hours or other commitments if required. You will assist multiple clients throughout the day and be required to provide transport for clients, so a valid Australian Drivers Licence is essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Domestic assistance duties. This consists of light cleaning duties, changing of bed linen, washing/laundry
• In-home supports inclusive of meal preparation and assistance with daily living
• Social supports inclusive of support to attend medical appointments, social activities in the local community, building/maintaining social networks
• Personal care inclusive of showering, daily hygiene, monitoring of health and well-being (for example, identification of wound care needs, skin integrity, etc)

 
 Skills & Experience

• A current unrestricted drivers licence and a reliable vehicle with minimum 3rd party insurance
• Current First Aid and CPR Certificate is required
• Certificate III in Aged Care (or similar) is required
• Prior experience working in the community with ageing clients will be highly regarded
• Ability to develop positive relationships with clients and support their individual care plans as appropriate
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including but not limited to a National Criminal History Record Check.
