About the role

In the role of a Disability Support Worker, you'll offer personalised, active support to individuals with disability. Your responsibilities will vary depending on each client's needs, but prior experience in personal care, manual handling, and behaviour support will be greatly valued. You'll be part of a 24/7 roster, availability for active overnight shifts will be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Flexibility to work across a 24/7 roster in addition to sleep overs and active overnights is required
  • Enable our clients to live independently and achieve their goals
  • Follow individual support plans, behaviour support plans and health care plans
  • Maintain and monitor support plans, providing a person-centred approach
  • Track and document an individual’s progress through detailed note keeping using basic technology and software on a mobile device and desktop

Skills & Experience

  • Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Current unrestricted driver's licence 
  • Employees may be required to transport clients in their own car, which must have Third Party insurance at minimum
  • A commitment to supporting and advocating the individual needs, skills, abilities, and personal goals of people with disability
  • Cert IV Disability will be highly regarded
  • Access to a personal mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet which is compatible with LWB’s Company Portal

To be considered for and appointed to a position at Life Without Barriers, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate, in accordance with Life Without Barriers Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. You will be required to provide evidence of your vaccination status during the recruitment process.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
