About the Role

We are looking for caring and responsible support workers who reflect the Life Without Barriers values and are passionate about helping others. As a Support Worker, you will actively support the individual needs of elderly Australians who access our Community Care services in Rockhampton and surrounding local areas. You will help our clients to continue living independently in their own homes.

This is a Casual position for approximately 30 hours a week. Flexible hours available that can be between school hours if required. You will be working predominantly between Monday to Friday, some Saturdays may be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Personal care inclusive of showering, daily hygiene, monitoring of health and well-being (for example, identification of wound care needs, skin integrity, etc)
• Domestic assistance duties. This consists of light cleaning duties, changing of bed linen, washing/laundry
• In-home supports inclusive of meal preparation and assistance with daily living
• Social supports inclusive of support to attend medical appointments, social activities in the local community, building/maintaining social networks

 
Skills & Experience

• A current unrestricted drivers licence and a reliable vehicle with minimum 3rd party insurance and willingness to travel between client’s home
• A current First Aid and CPR Certificate
• Ability to develop positive relationships with clients and support their individual care plans as appropriate
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including but not limited to a National Criminal History Record Check.

To be considered for and appointed to a position at Life Without Barriers, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate, in accordance with Life Without Barriers Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.
