About the Role

Actively support the individual needs of older Australians who access our Community Care Services around the Hervey Bay area. You will be a proactive and caring support worker who reflects the LWB values and is passionate about helping others. We have a Casual opportunity available with flexible working hours to suit your lifestyle, hours can be based between school hours if required (20 hours minimum a fortnight, with more hours on offer dependent on the candidates availability)

You will be required to provide predominantly domestic assistance, including assistance with washing clothes, vacuuming, dusting and other light cleaning duties. You will support multiple clients each day around Hervey Bay within their home, so a willingness to travel between houses is essential. We provide reimbursement per km travelled and you will also be paid for your time spent travelling between homes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Domestic assistance including washing clothing and hanging out to dry, folding and ironing of clothes, changing of bed linen as required, and other light cleaning duties
  • Provide support with community access to activities including medical appointments, shopping and social activities
  • Provide assistance with personal care including showering, bathing, toileting, and grooming as identified in their Care Plan
  • Building positive relationships with the people we support and their families

Skills & Experience

  • A current unrestricted Australian drivers licence and a reliable vehicle with minimum 3rd party insurance
  • Certificate III in Individual Support or similar is required
  • A current First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willingness to support older Australians with completing domestic assistance duties

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).

To be considered for and appointed to a position at Life Without Barriers, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate, in accordance with Life Without Barriers Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.
