About the role:

A very exciting opportunity to join Box Hill Institute as the Course Coordinator of our Refrigeration Trades team!

As the Course Coordinator, you will lead a team of education professionals to design deliver, evaluate and continuously improve leading edge programs for the Refrigeration trades area. As the operational leader for the program, you will optimise resourcing, and manage day-to-day operational effectiveness.

Within this role, you will provide ongoing professional development for your team, and proactively manage team and individual performance including supporting, coaching and training Teachers to deliver an excellent student experience and provide necessary support in achieving student outcomes. You are also responsible for student experience and outcomes, including out of classroom student experience in conjunction with key stakeholders across BHI.

You will develop and maintain expert knowledge and ensure that the team maintain required qualifications. Your role will also see you being responsible for student compliance and program budgets. On occasion, you may provide support to your team to teach in the classroom as well as lead course transitions.

The Course Coordinator role is one of several positions in the Faculty of Trades, Technology & Transport. The position reports to the Manager- Refrigeration and is responsible for liaising with students, relevant industry groups, community services providers, overseas partners and employees of BHI at all levels

The Faculty of Trades, Technology & Transport is one of five schools within BHI and is a major provider of apprenticeship and non-apprenticeship training, from pre vocational school programs to Advanced Diploma. The school provides training services in Automotive, Transport and Logistics, Engineering, Building and Furniture studies, Electro-technology, Plumbing, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.

This role is full time, fixed term for 12 months.

About You:

  • A vocational qualification relevant to trades

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) is required

  • A relevant approved AQF Level 6 qualification in adult and vocational education

  • Desirable: A management or leadership qualification

  • Highly developed educational leadership expertise plus extensive management and/or teaching skills

  • Demonstrated experience applying and coaching employees on teaching methodologies, techniques and standards appropriate to subject areas

  • Understanding of the range of administrative requirements that support coordination of education and training, with experience in compliance with accreditation/audit recommendations and quality assurance

  • Challenges and supports others to identify new and different approaches to deliver outstanding programs and service, ensuring risks and change management impacts are identified and managed

  • High level ability to solve problems, can anticipate potential problems and pre-empt actions, liaises with stakeholders analysing issues and proposing workable and positive solutions, implementing, and reviewing solution effectiveness
