This role can either be on a job grade 4.1 or 4.2 depending on the successful candidate’s skills and experiences

This is an exciting Associate Director role in a high performing team with an established client base, on a strong growth trajectory. The position offers the opportunity to manage an existing Funds Portfolio, whilst also assisting 1 Sydney based Director in relation to the management of their large client portfolio. 

The Financial Institutions Group is a global industry group within ANZ.  FIG Australia comprises 4 sub segments: Funds; Banks; Diversified Financials and Insurance.  The Funds business, includes a diverse group of Fund entities, including Superannuation Funds, Fund Administrators, wealth providers, private equity funds, infrastructure funds, platform providers along with other service providers to the wider Funds industry.

The successful applicant will drive high customer satisfaction and disciplined revenue growth by working cooperatively and respectfully with R&A, FIG Risk, FIG Offshore and product partners to originate, structure, execute and manage banking solutions for clients.  The role will report into the Head of Funds.

Your key priorities and responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the management of a diverse client portfolio with clients across different sub-segments of the Funds sector, all with very different banking needs and styles.
  • Manage a selection of clients within this portfolio, driving the client engagement, origination and ongoing management.
  • Becoming a subject matter expert regarding industry issues that shape the banking needs of the sector, with a particular focus on industry/public sector superannuation funds.
  • Proactively prepare and share industry trends with key internal stakeholders.
  • Identification of new-to-bank targets and drive the internal and external engagement strategy in relation to them.
  • Ensuring the team remains ‘well managed’ in relation to maintenance of key account plans and completion of up to date call records.
  • Execute Institutional Australia and FIG strategic plans including client satisfaction and portfolio revenue and ZCEP growth.
  • Work closely and respectfully with FIG R&A and Credit Risk executives.
  • Collaborate with the product specialists to ensure strategy execution is in line with FIG risk appetite.
  • Where appropriate work closely with inter-state, inter-segment and offshore ANZ teams.
  • Build a profile across ANZ network to ensure smooth client management


About You
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Significant experience in banking with preference for relationship banking, loan structuring/execution or relevant transactional banking.
  • Tertiary qualifications preferably in Commerce or Law.
  • In depth knowledge of a broad range of Institutional banking products and services preferably with an emphasis on the funds management sector
  • Proven performance in being able to deal with complex and unique situations
  • Excellent relationship, business development, interpersonal and negotiating skills with ability to build a profile with internal stakeholders and existing/new clients
