Internal Audit is ANZ’s third line of defense, an operationally independent function which ensures the Bank is appropriately managing the risks arising from its business activities. The Audit Manager role provides an exciting opportunity to broaden your awareness of the Bank’s activities and further your knowledge of sound risk management and audit practices within a supportive and learning-driven environment.

As an Audit Manager you will be responsible for assessing the adequacy and appropriateness of risk and control environments throughout the organisation to ensure appropriate management and mitigation of risks faced by the Bank. This will include review of the adequacy and appropriateness of control environments across a diverse range of business units, group functions, and activities including operational risk, data, regulatory change, risk modelling, conduct and credit risk, amongst others.

You will work with management to develop sustainable solutions that enhance the control environment, better manage risk exposures, support the Bank’s strategic objectives and ensure customer and stakeholder interests are being safeguarded. You will also team lead reviews of low to medium complexity and risk. Particular areas of focus include, but are not limited to: operational risk & compliance management, risk frameworks, risk modelling, treasury management and finance.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:  

  • Technical capabilities: Experience in delivering a risk-based internal audit methodology, or similar experience, such as external audit, assurance or Risk to high quality standards.
  • Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills, drafting and communicating key audit messages and recommendations effectively, as well as good listening and interpreting skills.
  • Stakeholder Management: Track record in building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders. Good negotiating, influencing and conflict management skills including supporting change and overcoming resistance to change.
  • Culture: Be curious and have a growth mindset. Constantly delivers on assigned goals and strives to better these goals despite obstacles, setbacks or uncertainty.
  • Planning and Accountability: Positive, self-starter who takes accountability for assigned tasks and sees them through to completion. Ability to forward plan for work and can manage competing priorities.
  • Data skills: Awareness of approaches and techniques for analysing and interpreting structured and unstructured data, with a focus on driving efficiency in audit execution.
  • Qualifications: Tertiary qualified, ideally having completed, or working towards completion of Professional (e.g. CPA/CA) or Post Graduate qualifications.
