Education & Training
RMIT is a global university of technology and design, focused on creating solutions that transform the future for the benefit of people and their environments.
RMIT University is committed to providing a culturally safe environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to work and study. RMIT is a friendly and welcoming workplace, a university for tomorrow - global in outlook and with teaching, learning, research and innovation programs continually updated so that our students, staff and graduates are ready to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
The University has services and programs intended to address the educational and employment issues that Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people often face - due to discrimination and the impact of past government policies and practices - resulting in inadequate educational and employment outcomes. Your Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage is something that is personal; however, proof of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage is asked of applicants, when applying for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander specific services and programs, to help ensure this intention is honoured.
The University has an Indigenous Employment Coordinator who is responsible for the employment, retention and career development of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees. Employment enquiries can be directed to the Indigenous Employment Coordinator on 03 9925 0707.
