About the opportunity

Uniting aspires to be a data-led organisation and is embarking on a new and exciting data & analytics program. The Data & Analytics team is boldly leading the organisation’s data journey – putting BI and analytics tools into the hands of our people to enable data-driven decision making across the organisation.

In this newly created role, the Data Visualisation Lead will work directly with the Chief Data Officer, and be responsible for value realisation through the uptake and use of Data & Analytics across Uniting. They will work to embed best practice data visualisation, establish self-service via a training and mentoring program, and provide oversight to a team that is building dashboards and reports, to ensure successful delivery that aligns with business needs.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Chief Data Officer to contribute to the refinement of Uniting’s Data and Analytics strategy.
• Effectively add tangible business value to Uniting by developing solutions that improve business efficiency, understand clients better, improve client care and improve staff and resource management.
• Be responsible for value realisation through the uptake and use of data via reporting and data visualisation.
• Mentor and develop the data visualisation team, managing the performance and growth of team members.
• Develop reports (including visualisations) and dashboards using Power BI.
• Train non-technical staff in using reports and dashboard, and train/ mentor power users and technical team members in report development.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in IT or a related discipline.

Skills & Experience

This is a management role, typically requiring 8 or more years’ experience, including two or more years’ experience supervising a small team of specialists.  You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be organized, systematic, thorough, accurate and disciplined.

• Experience in dashboard, report, and data model design
• Experience in developing Business Intelligence solutions using tools such as PowerBI
• Strong data background and acumen
• Strong customer service focus and ability to work as part of a team
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Quality and results oriented

Even better:

• Experience in designing and/or developing data platforms / solutions, particularly using Azure Data Factory and/or Snowflake
• Experience using Agile Development methodologies
• Consulting experience
