 About you 

As a VE Teacher, Dental Technology you will be mainly responsible for the delivery of course material, assessing students and the supervision of students enrolled in the Diploma of Dental Technology.

You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes Dental Prosthetics, Dental Assisting including Oral Health & Radiography as well as Dental Technology within the Allied Health & Dental Program cluster.

The Diploma is delivered via blended learning, comprising a large component practical work in our dedicated laboratories within the hospital and online learning via RMIT’s online learning platform.

The role requires participation in the  continuing reviews of course content and development, delivery, teaching and assessment methods . You will also follow the prescribed university processes and timelines to ensure programs’ meet regulatory compliance and quality requirements.

 You will be required to have

  • Relevant industry experience in Dental Technology or related areas and experience from within the Vocational Educational sector.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills relevant to teaching and consultancy environments. This includes effective presentation and facilitation skills, and in the use of flexible teaching methods.
  • Skills and experience in competency-based assessment.
  • The ability to ensure current and contemporary vocational competence meets and/or exceeds the education level being delivered and assessed.
  • Experience in relevant industry and substantial discipline knowledge as it relates to this position.
  • Ability to show sensitivity for students with learning difficulties and provide relevant support or referral

Qualifications 

Diploma in Dental Technology

 Vocational Education Teachers are required to meet all the following minimum standards.

  • Vocational Competencies
  • The appointee must be able to demonstrate vocational competencies at least to the level of those delivered.

  • Assessment and Delivery Competencies
  • The appointee must hold:

    TAE40116 – Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or its successor; or TAE40110 – Certificate IV in Training and Assessment plus the following units:

    • TAELLN411 or TAELLN401A and
    • TAEASS502 or TAEASS502A or TAEASS502B as a minimum qualification

    Note that eligible applicants may be given financial support to complete their Cert IV TAE at RMIT. Further details are available for those interested.
