About the Role

As a Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will be responsible for assessing, designing, evaluating and monitoring behaviour support plans and interventions for individuals accessing Life Without Barriers Disability programs.

We are seeking to consider candidates from a range of allied health professions including Psychology, Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy and Applied Behavioural Analysis and/or candidates with demonstrated experience in Behaviour Support assessment, development and implementation.

These newly created opportunities will be offered on a flexible full or part time basis, based in Launceston.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical knowledge, expertise and support to clients in range of Life Without Barriers Disability programs.
  • Complete assessments (including data collection and analysis) of risk and behaviours of concern.
  • Develop, deliver and monitor interventions and strategies for the management of behaviours exhibited by people with disability.
  • Work within the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Commission requirements, the NDIA terms of business and any State Based Restricted Practice Authorization requirements.
  • Provide training and support to staff, teachers, parents and other relevant stakeholders in therapeutic interventions, behaviour support plans, restricted practices, risk and safety plans.
  • Collaborate with all relevant stakeholders (including family, staff, teachers and other health professionals) in order to ensure best outcomes for the clients

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in allied health professions such as Psychology, Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Social Work or equivalent experience that meets the requirements of the NDIS
  • Registration with AHPRA or relevant professional body will be highly regarded, however is not essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in the delivery of behaviour support services to individuals with a range of disabilities, complex support needs and/or trauma. This includes the provision of positive behaviour support approaches and the use of authorised Restrictive Practices
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience working in a billable hours environment such as the NDIS
  • Experience working in a culturally sensitive manner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and/or a willingness to work and train in culturally appropriate approaches
  • Ability to provide a service based on the individuals NDIS plan, goals and funding allocation
