About the job
This is a key role responsible for implementing Swinburne’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce strategy and contributing to the delivery of workforce targets under
Swinburne’s 2020-2023 RAP.
Reporting to the Diversity & Inclusion Manager in the Employee Experience team, People Planning and Culture (PP&C), the role manages recruitment and retention programs to support employment outcomes.
Stakeholder and relationship management is integral to the success of this role. The position works across the both the PP&C group and the Moondani Toombadool Centre (MTC) and requires building strong working relationships with other University areas, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff and external stakeholders to enable Swinburne to attract, retain and develop Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander talent.
This is an Identified position and being an Australian Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander is considered a ‘genuine occupational qualification’ in accordance with sub-s 26(3) and s 28 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:
• The ability to gain the support and commitment of others to progress Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment, retention and/or development initiatives
• The ability to build networks and partnerships with diverse groups of people; to work collaboratively to achieve shared objectives
• Extensive experience and expertise in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment or broad knowledge; or a degree with subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
• Passion and commitment to achieving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment outcomes
